Fakarava

Truly, if you want to get away from it all, no phones, internet, or electricity, then there are places in Tahiti I can suggest, such as Fakarava, pictured here. The starlight is so bright, you feel as though you can reach up and touch them. Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket.

Fakarava is being classified by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve, the worldwide sum of all ecosystems. It is the second largest atoll in the west of the Tuamotu group in French Polynesia.

There are tiny little pensions in this paradise that make you feel as if you have just gone to end of the earth, nothing beyond, except sparkling turquoise seas, really the wild blue yonder. When you are in this place, it is a feeling of euphoria, as if you really are in heaven on earth. I would go back in a heartbeat.
